Meet the Tutors

Kaitlin Torres is a certified teacher who has taught in the public education system for nine years and has been tutoring for 16 years. She has a Master's in Teaching, a Master's in Creative Writing and Literature, a Master's in Library and Information Science, a major in Psychology, and a minor in English. She specializes in teaching reading to young children and struggling readers, is certified to teach early childhood through high school students, was previously a high school ELA teacher, and is currently a PreK-8th grade media specialist in a public Montessori school. With over 10 years of teaching experience, she's honed her skills in helping students achieve success in reading. She utilizes a combination of time-tested strategies and an Orton-Gillingham-based curriculum, ensuring an approach that is both effective and tailored to each learner’s needs.

 

Her husband, Hector Reyes, is also a certified teacher who has taught in the public education system for seven years and has been tutoring for 12 years. He has a Master's in Advanced Studies of Mathematics, a major in Mathematics, and a minor in Science. He specializes in teaching mathematical foundations and concepts to all learners, is certified to teach PreK-12th grade students, is gifted and talented certified, was previously a high school math teacher, and is currently a middle school math and science teacher in a public Montessori school.
